May 2009

According to the much anticipated and soon-to-be released annual AIFresearch, State of the Vacation Timeshare Industry: United States Study, 2009 Edition, the timeshare industry reported an average of 81.6% occupancy rate in 2008, despite economic downturns—compared with the 60.4% occupancy rate at the hotel industry. Around 67% of resorts are at least 80-percent occupied, and 40% have occupancy of at least 90%. Only 11% of resorts are less than 60-percent occupied. These resorts tend to be in the mountain and northeast regions and have higher priced intervals.
