Timeshare Datashare - Recent Buyer Hesitations
Provided by: ARDA International Foundation
January 2007
The beginning of the year is filled with New
Year’s resolutions like eating better, traveling more, or spending
less. Whatever the resolution may be, we force ourselves to think twice.
So, January is an appropriate time to evaluate how consumers may also
“think twice” before purchasing vacation
ownership.
Fortunately, we have a way of getting into the minds
of timeshare buyers, to better understand the debate of whether or not
they should purchase their future vacations through timeshare ownership.
In the study Resort Timeshare Consumers: Who They Are, Why
They Buy, a survey of new timeshare buyers revealed that cost and
timing were primary hesitations for them before they signed on the
dotted line. Sixty-two percent of respondents stated that they
didn’t like to make same-day purchases, followed by a concern for
increased maintenance fees (61%), the selling price (60%), and the
annual payment of maintenance fees (56%).
The chart below details the remaining top 10 purchase
hesitations that can help timeshare professionals better relate to their
customers as they make this important vacation decision.
