Timeshare Datashare - Industry Impact on the U.S. Economy

Timeshare sales at $8.6 billion? That’s just the
tip of the iceberg. You could say that the impact of the timeshare
industry follows the law of motion in a way. For every action, there is
an equal reaction. In the case of the timeshare industry, for every
action there is an exponentially larger reaction: consumers spend money
on a timeshare interval, and then the timeshare owner and resort
community returns spending, jobs, salaries, and taxes into the local
economy.
In the United States in 2005, consumers spent an
estimated $8.6 billion on timeshare interests, $3.9 billion on
maintenance fees, and $10 billion on vacation spending. What was
returned back to local economies was an estimated $62 billion in
spending, 565,300 jobs, over $21 billion in salaries and wages, and more
than $8 billion in tax revenue. That’s a major positive impact
profile timeshare is having on many communities.
