Provided by: ARDA International Foundation
November 2008
According to the newly released Financial Performance 2008 report,
conducted among timeshare development companies in active sales, it is
estimated that 76.5% of the dollar value of net originated timeshare
sales in 2007 was financed. The study also collected data on the
performance of participating companies’ outstanding consumer
receivables portfolio. A total receivables portfolio value of $10.2
billion was reported in 2007, representing a 17.2% increase from 2006,
when a total receivables portfolio value of $8.7 billion was reported.
The share of current receivables (less than 31 days delinquent) was
90.8% at year-end 2007, slightly less than the year-end 2006 percentage
of 91.3%. On average, 2.6% of the receivables were 31 to 60 days past
due, and 6.7% were over 60 days past due or in default at year-end 2007,
on a weighted average basis.
