2014 Resort Occupancy Rate

According to the State of the Vacation Timeshare Industry: United States Study, 2015 Edition, the timeshare industry reported an average 78.3% occupancy rate in 2014, compared with a 64% occupancy rate for the hotel industry. (Source: "STR Trend Report" Smith Travel Research December 2014)

Approximately 52% of resorts were at least 80% occupied, and 21% had occupancy of at least 90%. Only 17% of resorts were less than 60 percent occupied. Occupancy for sold-out resorts is approximately three percentage points higher than that of active sales resorts.
