About ARDA-Caribbean

Strategic Details

For nearly a year ARDA has pursued an open process with ARDA leadership and members with interests in the Caribbean to determine the best way to reinvigorate the ARDA-Caribbean Committee. This process came to a head on August 21, 2008, where 41 interested members participated in a four-hour strategic planning meeting to agree upon a working agenda.

From the results it is clear that members prefer the committee to represent the legislative needs of the timeshare and vacation ownership industry and their owners in the region, conduct regional industry research, public/media relations, and develop stronger relationships with national and regional level public and private sector tourism organizations. The following is a summary of these results:

Mission Statement

It is the mission of ARDA-Caribbean to foster and promote the growth and well-being of the timeshare and vacation ownership industry in the Caribbean.

Commitment to Ethics

ARDA, and its members in the Caribbean, are committed to the highest standards and ethics in resort, vacation, recreational, residential and community development for the benefit of the public. To demonstrate that commitment, ARDA-Caribbean will adopt ARDA’s Code of Standards & Ethics . All members of ARDA, and all those who use ARDA services, agree to comply with this Code.

Core Values

ARDA-Caribbean will develop a statement of core values. The committee’s core values will be the guiding principles that will help us create and maintain a culture defined by trust, ethics, integrity, professionalism, and a respect for the diversity of peoples, cultures and nations in the Caribbean.

Priority Jurisdictions in 2009-2010:

(1) US Virgin Islands
(2) Jamaica
(3) Bahamas
(4) Dominican Republic

It is important to note that while these four countries will serve as the committee's primary geographic targets in 2009-2010, the state affairs team will also respond to legislative threats that may arise in other jurisdictions.
