ARDA and ARDA-ROC Address Termination/Extension of Timeshare Plans in SC

The bill will put into place more achievable voting requirements for owners to terminate or extend their expiring timeshare plans and provide a process for managing the option that the owners choose to pursue.

ARDA and ARDA-ROC Address Filing and Recording Fee Increase

South Carolina HB 3243 aims to amend filing and recording fee structures for various filing fees. The bill proposes a 250% fee increase from $10 to $25 on the recording of many documents. We were able to get the bill amended to keep the recording of timeshare deeds to $10 and to preserve our bulk filing concessions that some HOAs use to keep costs down.

ARDA and ARDA-ROC Oppose Legislation Proposing Voluntary Surrender of Timeshare Interests (HB 4259)

Representatives Hamilton, Govan, Bedingfield, Putnam, Felder, Bowers, Henderson and Nanney introduced a bill, HB 4259, which if passed, would enable a timeshare owner to voluntarily surrender their timeshare to a timeshare association upon meeting certain provisions.

SC HB 3491 Delayed in Senate

Despite ARDA-ROC's best efforts to pass HB 3491 in the 2013 session, the bill was unfortunately held on 2nd Reading in the Senate when the Legislature adjorned Sine Die on June 6, 2013.

Timeshare Tax Exemptions Left Untouched in South Carolina House Bills

Last week, South Carolina’s House of Representatives introduced a series of tax bills aimed at achieving tax reform. The tax package does not include a removal of the timeshare industry’s sales and exchange tax exemptions.
