First Word
President/CEO Jason Gamel
Welcome to the first 2022 edition of The Inside Look and we hope you are having a great start to the New Year! For the team here at ARDA, things have picked up right where they left off in 2021, with a flurry of activity across all departments. On the legislative front, last year we supported many successful efforts and this first quarter, state legislative sessions across the United States have swung into full gear. Enjoy reading more about our priorities at the state and federal level in our Legislative News section below.
We also have two exciting announcements regarding ARDA's communications efforts. First, if you have not heard about it already, ARDA has launched a new campaign called the “#ARDA 360” campaign. Through LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter, ARDA 360 will deliver an all-inclusive look at the ARDA community. This will be done by resharing information from our members, pushing curated content from ARDA, the AIF, and ARDA-ROC resources, and promoting stories that we find published in mainstream and travel/financial media. Be sure to follow all of those social channels so you don’t miss out!
Second, you will notice a new format to The Inside Look with a few new columns. We aim to connect, communicate, and combine all of the industry news found here with the positive results and momentum of the Love My Timeshare initiative. We are pleased to continue delivering great information, and new content, in one place.
In this edition, you’ll also find updates to the 2022 Member Renewal Campaign and updates to an engaging Event Schedule. As always, please visit us at www.arda.org to find information about all of ARDA’s contributions and industry work in further detail.
Enjoy this month’s edition!

Legislative Update
Through its staff and volunteer members serving on the Legislative Policy Council, ARDA finished off the 2021 year strong, having supported the successful legislative effort spearheaded by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission to modernize its Timeshare law, providing enhanced consumer protections and product regulations. 2021 also saw the passage of new a new Timeshare Act in the United States Virgin Islands. The new Act brings much-needed relief to timeshare associations by removing barriers that kept them from foreclosing delinquent inventory and issues relating to property tax assessments.
The focus now turns to our current state and federal priorities. Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vermont are states where ARDA is actively monitoring or pursuing changes to statutes affecting timeshare developers and owners alike. At the federal level, ARDA continues to support tourism industry initiatives that include the Restoring Brand USA Act and efforts to continue supporting the hospitality industry that is still reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lastly, ARDA continues to cultivate relationships with Attorney’s General and other regulatory agencies. There is always the need to keep educating them on current industry trends as they work to protect owners and businesses in their states.
Love is in The ShareFor all members who take Timeshare to Heart, we are pleased to introduce this new column to The Inside Look.
