Holiday Travel
According to the latest wave of the Back-to-Normal Barometer conducted in mid-January 2022, timeshare owners were more likely to have traveled during the end of year December holidays. 79% of timeshare owners reported traveling 50+ miles from home either staying with friends or family or in paid lodging during the holidays. In comparison, 48% of all active Americans have traveled during the same period of time either staying with friends or family or in paid lodging. For those who chose not to travel during the holidays, timeshare owners seem to be more impacted by the risk of COVID-19. 44% of timeshare owners cited “traveling would raise the risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19” as the reason for not traveling during the holidays. In comparison, 28% of all active Americans cited the same reason.
