Massanutten Resort Preparing for ‘Mountain Mayhem’ with Launch of Thrilling New Mountain Coaster
Virginia Resort Expands Offerings with Adrenaline-Pumping Attraction, Set to Open This Fall
Massanutten, Va.– (July 22, 2024) – Massanutten Resort, a premier four-season resort located in the heart of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, today announced its newest attraction, ‘Mountain Mayhem,’ will open this Fall. The mountain coaster will offer unforgettable year-round experiences, combining breathtaking views of the Shenandoah Valley with exciting twists and turns.
“We are thrilled to share that after much anticipation, our newest attraction, ‘Mountain Mayhem,’ will open this Fall, adding to the activities available at Massanutten Resort,” said Kameron Tucker, mountain sports director at Massanutten Resort. “We are passionate about finding new ways to captivate our guests and community by rolling out innovative new adventures each season. We cannot wait to see the smiles on the faces of our visitors, who we know are going to love this ride.”
With a total length spanning 3,380 feet, ‘Mountain Mayhem’ is an exhilarating downhill experience covering 2,156 feet of terrain, with two 360-degree spirals along the track. Each ride will last approximately six minutes; an innovative design gives riders full control over their speed, granting a customized experience tailored to everyone’s preference. Whether seeking an exhilarating, heart-pumping ride or a more leisurely ride to take in the coaster’s breathtaking views, the mountain coaster can reach speeds of up to 25 miles per hour.
The mountain coaster will feature both single and double riders, allowing guests to experience the thrill together. Each ticket purchase includes two rides on the mountain coaster. For double the thrill, guests can also purchase Mountain Coaster and Tubing Combo tickets. Double riders must ensure their combined weight does not exceed 350 pounds. Ensuring the safety of all guests, single riders cannot be younger than 10 years old, and all children must be over the age of four.
“This new experience is all part of a multi-year plan to ensure that Massanutten is the premier destination for fun, excitement and family connection on the East Coast,” said Michael Hammes, vice president general manager at Massanutten Resort. “Our focus is on the resort experience and creating more opportunities for thrill-seekers of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to get out, have fun and make awesome memories.”
‘Mountain Mayhem’ will join Massanutten Resort's already impressive line-up of activities at the Family Adventure Park, which includes the Mega Zip, Ridge Rappel and Climbing Excursions Kids’ Adventure Course, Summer and Winter Tubing, Gem Mining and more.
