ARDA Announces Vacation Ownership Sentiment Index Results for Third Quarter of 2024

October 23, 2024

Leisure travel index finds timeshare owners have renewed confidence in the economy, greater satisfaction with their timeshare experience, and heightened travel expectations

Washington, D.C. (Oct. 21, 2024) – ARDA has released the September results from its Vacation Ownership Sentiment Index, highlighting timeshare owners’ positive increase in overall sentiment regarding travel and the timeshare product. The index provides a monthly pulse of owner sentiment and forward-looking anticipated behaviors relative to the broader traveler market.

The September sentiment index concluded that overall timeshare owner sentiment, as measured by the Index and its components, increased during the third quarter to a level not seen in over a year.

Other important takeaways from the latest index are below:

  • Leisure travel for both timeshare owners and travelers in general, experienced three consecutive months of greater activity during the third quarter.
  • 63% of owners strongly expect the overall satisfaction on their next timeshare vacation to exceed expectations, a +6-point lift from August.
  • 65% of timeshare owners have made a reservation for their next vacation; double the incidence of overall travelers.
  • Those timeshare owners who saw owning a timeshare as an exceptional value, as well as those who would recommend timeshare to friends who enjoy vacation travel, each trended upward over the past three months.
  • Those timeshare owners looking to upgrade or purchase additional timeshares over the next two years trended upward throughout Q3.

“Looking back on a busy summer travel season, we’re encouraged that timeshare owners are not only continuing to plan their vacations well into the non-peak travel ‘shoulder season’ but are also steadily expressing higher satisfaction rates with the product,” said Jason Gamel, president and CEO of ARDA. “As our members continue to deliver exceptional experiences at resorts in highly desirable destinations, it’s no wonder that timeshare owners are already planning their next trip and are actively looking to upgrade or purchase new timeshare products.”
