Country of Residence for Timeshare Owners

The vast majority of U.S. timeshare resort owners live in the United States, according to the 2019 State of the Vacation Timeshare Industry: United States Study, the annual industry survey conducted among all identified U.S. timeshare resorts. In fact, 89% of timeshare resort owners reside in the United States, while 11% of the owners reside in other countries.

More context can be understood with the findings of the 2016 Shared Vacation Ownership Worldwide Report. The report found that in North America (U.S., Canada and Mexico) as a whole, approximately:

• 70% of timeshare resort occupants originate from the same country as the resort location,
• 14% of occupants originate from other countries within North America, and
• 16% of occupants originate from outside North America.
