Grand Pacific Resorts Leadership Gives Back Through "Threads for Tahoe" Sustanability Challenge
Leadership event in Olympic Valley turns secondhand fashion challenge into support for keep Tahoe Blue and Environment stewardship
Carlsbad, CA – October 2026 / NewsmakerAlert: Grand Pacific Resorts brought creativity, sustainability and community giving together during its 2026 Leadership Meeting with Threads for Tahoe, a team challenge benefiting Keep Tahoe Blue and supporting efforts to preserve the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Held at Olympic Village Inn in Olympic Valley, Threads for Tahoe challenged leaders from across Grand Pacific Resorts to create Tahoe-inspired ensembles exclusively from secondhand clothing and accessories.
Each participant received a $30 budget to purchase items from thrift stores ahead of the event. But the challenge rewarded teams for more than creativity.
Grand Pacific Resorts committed a guaranteed $2,500 donation to Keep Tahoe Blue, with every dollar left unspent from participating teams’ budgets added to the contribution. Together teams donated 68% of their allotted budgets, returning $1,292 in unused funds and bringing the final donation to $3,792.
Elevating Excellence Through Action
Threads for Tahoe was developed around the theme of Grand Pacific Resorts’ 2026 Leadership Meeting, Elevating Excellence, which challenged leaders to consider how excellence can extend beyond strong business results to include collaboration, responsible decision-making, and positive community impact.
The guiding idea behind the event was simple: Excellence isn’t measured by how much we spend, but by how thoughtfully we use our resources.
The concept also reflected one of the company’s Grand Pacific Way Fundamentals, “Act Like It’s Yours,” which encourages Associates to make thoughtful decisions about company and HOA resources and continually look for ways to reduce unnecessary time, money, materials, and effort.
By requiring participants to shop exclusively for secondhand clothing and accessories, Threads for Tahoe put that principle into practice while encouraging reuse and raising awareness about textile waste and the environmental impact of consumption.
Creativity With a Purpose
During the event, teams showcased their creations in a runway-style fashion show held in Olympic Village Inn’s newly renovated courtyard.
Participants shared the inspiration behind their Tahoe-themed designs and revealed how much of their allotted budgets they had preserved for the donation.
Beyond the friendly competition, the event supported Keep Tahoe Blue and its mission to protect and preserve the environmental health, sustainability, and scenic beauty of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
“We’ve been partnering with Grand Pacific Resorts in fun and creative ways for years. They are passionate about protecting the communities they serve and where their guests play. Partnerships like this ensure Tahoe remains a place people want to return to again and again. We’re profoundly grateful for their continued support,” said Hailey Hawkins, Community Partnership Manager at Keep Tahoe Blue.
Hosting Threads for Tahoe in Olympic Valley also gave Grand Pacific Resorts an opportunity to connect its leadership development experience with meaningful support for the destination that welcomed its leaders.
Threads for Tahoe reflects Grand Pacific Resorts’ broader commitment to giving back to the communities where its Associates, Owners, and Guests live, work, and vacation. By combining leadership development with hands-on community engagement, the company continues to create opportunities for its leaders and Associates to turn shared values into collective impact.
