Timeshare Owners Continue to Prioritize Travel in 2025
New study from timeshare industry association finds 71% of timeshare owners have already planned their next vacation, despite economic uncertainty
Washington, D.C. (April 21, 2025) – ARDA, the trade association for the vacation ownership and timeshare industries, has released the results of its Vacation Ownership Sentiment Index for the first quarter of 2025, highlighting timeshare owners’ determination to travel this year.
The index, which measures timeshare owners’ behaviors and preferences against those of other U.S. leisure travelers, found that 60% of owners said nothing will stop them from taking a vacation in 2025, compared to just 39% of other leisure travelers who said the same thing.
“I really value the larger accommodations and included amenities such as kitchens and laundry facilities”, said Janet B., a timeshare owner. “The consistency of the accommodations also helps reduce stress during vacations. I know what to expect.”
Owners’ willingness to travel, even in the face of economic uncertainty, was evident in booking patterns this quarter. In March, 71% of timeshare owners had already made a reservation for their next vacation; a + 12-point improvement over the January 2025 Index findings and 73% higher than the incidence of overall travelers.
“Timeshare owners locked-in the cost of their future vacations when they made their initial purchase, knowing they could avoid massive market swings or other factors impacting the cost of accommodations,” said Jason Gamel, president & CEO of ARDA. “With most timeshare owners living in driving distance from a timeshare resort, and with amenities like full kitchens and separate bedrooms, owners can control costs and still enjoy their vacation without having to come out of pocket for major vacation-related expenses. This makes owners more willing to continue traveling in times of economic uncertainty.”
In addition to the in-suite amenities and pre-paid nature of the timeshare product, timeshare owners are taking advantage of the easy accessibility of timeshare resorts. According to the March Sentiment Index, 62% of owners are planning to drive to a timeshare resort this summer.
