The Return of Urban Destinations!?
According to the latest wave of the monthly Back to Normal Barometer which was conducted in mid July, urban destinations are showing signs of recovering from the pandemic. Respondents were asked the type of destination they plan to visit for their next vacation that involves an overnight stay. Urban destination ranks as number two in the list following the all-time favorite Beach destination. The ranking is consistent with the findings from a month earlier.
The survey further asked the respondents why they plan to visit an urban destination on their next vacation. To enjoy the variety of food options and restaurants (53%), to visit the museums and other cultural places of interests that are unique in the urban area (50%), to visit friends and family (49%), to relax and rejuvenate (48%) and to enjoy the city life that they have been missing during the pandemic (46%) are the top five reasons the respondents deem very important for their destination choice.
