Q: Can you share a bit about yourself and your cultural heritage within the AAPI region?
A: My roots trace back to Thailand, where the values of respect, humility, and community are deeply woven into everyday life. These principles have shaped how I connect with others, both personally and professionally. From celebrating Songkran (Thai New Year) to enjoying traditional Thai food with my family, I take great pride in honoring and sharing these traditions. Being part of a diverse team has not only allowed me to represent my culture proudly, but also to learn from and celebrate others, which I deeply value.
Q: What does AAPI Heritage Month mean to you?
A: We spend a lot of time and effort trying to blend in and assimilate, so much so that we can forget where we came from. AAPI Heritage Month is an opportunity for me to celebrate my culture and remind me where I started and what made me who I am today.
Q: What aspects of your cultural heritage have been most influential in your professional journey?
A: Growing up in Thailand, I was immersed in a culture that values openness, hospitality, and deep respect for others. We’re taught from a young age to embrace people from all walks of life, and that spirit of curiosity and kindness has guided much of my journey. That openness inspired me to explore beyond borders—both literally and figuratively. It’s what led me to study abroad, travel across the world, and eventually move to the United States. Because of that journey, I met my husband, started a beautiful family, and now have the honor of working with an incredible team. Without my Thai roots—rich with tradition, humility, and a global outlook—I wouldn’t be where I am today.
Q: Can you share a moment when you felt proud of your cultural heritage in a professional setting?
A: A moment that really made me proud was during our team’s celebration of Asian Heritage Month. I decided to bring in homemade Thai food—dishes I grew up with, like green curry and Thai basil chicken—and shared a bit about what those meals meant to me growing up in Thailand. What touched me most wasn’t just how much everyone enjoyed the food, but how many people stayed after to ask questions, share stories of their own culture, and thank me for opening that door.
That moment reminded me how powerful it is to show up as your full self. I didn’t just feel proud to share my culture—I felt seen, respected, and connected in a deeper way with my colleagues. It was a beautiful reminder that when we lead with authenticity, we create space for others to do the same.
Q: What legacy do you hope to leave for future generations of AAPI professionals?
A: I hope to leave a legacy that shows the power of staying true to who you are. That your culture is not something to hide or blend in, but something to celebrate and carry with pride. I want future AAPI professionals to know that you can lead with humility, kindness, and respect—and still be strong, impactful, and successful. My goal is to create a space where others feel seen, supported, and confident enough to bring their full selves to the table, just as I’ve learned to do.
