ARDA-ROC

The ARDA-Resort Owners’ Coalition (ARDA-ROC) advocates on issues impacting individual timeshare owners.

For over 25 years, ARDA-ROC’s powerful advocacy arm has championed timeshare owners’ causes on every regulatory and legislative level­ — federal, state, and local. ARDA-ROC is the first line of defense against legislation that could hurt timeshare owners’ wellbeing.

ARDA-ROC’s steady and strategic owner advocacy has generated an impressive list of legislative and regulatory triumphs, including:

  • In South Carolina, we helped pass a bill (HB 3754) that puts in place more achievable voting requirements for owners who would like to terminate or extend, and provides a process for managing the option that the owners choose to pursue.
  • In Hawaii, we helped stop two bills (SB 382 & SB 714) that sought to increase the formula for the amount of transient accommodations tax to be collected from timeshares. Hawaii is the latest achievement in a long series of wins within multiple states and counties across the country, in which we have successfully opposed legislation seeking to tax timeshare unit on an occupancy that generates no revenues.
  • In Missouri, we helped stop a bill (SB 135) that sought to repeal existing provisions regarding non- judicial foreclosure and to require that all foreclosure
    proceedings be handled judicially. Missouri joins Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts and South Carolina as states where we have successfully supported non-judicial foreclosure laws.

ARDA-ROC is a Grassroots Lobbying Coalition of Timeshare Owners

ARDA-ROC comprises over 1.6 million timeshare unit owners in the United States who voluntarily contribute between $3 and $10 annually. These resources ensure ARDA-ROC is equipped to succeed in defending legislation that could negatively impact timeshare owners.

Advancing Key Policies

ARDA-ROC has been extremely effective in advancing policies that enhance the interests of timeshare owners — such as legislation that protects owners from resale and transfer scams, solidifies non-judicial foreclosure laws, ensures information privacy, and safeguards owners against excessive and unfair taxes.

Tracking & Researching

In addition, ARDA-ROC uses its resources to track federal and state legislative and regulatory activity, as well as to conduct studies on key aspects of vacation ownership. These studies provide critical data points that help ARDA-ROC’s advocates educate legislators on the economic impacts of vacation ownership in their districts.
