November 11th is Veterans Day, and we’re honoring the remarkable contributions of individuals who served in our industry all month long. Learn more about their inspiring stories and insights by reading below.

Q: Which military branch did you serve in, where were you stationed, and how long did you serve?

A: I served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. I was stationed aboard the USS San Juan (SSN 751), USS Hartford (SSN 768), USS La Jolla (SSN 701), and USS Newport News (SSN 750) in Groton, Connecticut; and Norfolk, Virginia. I served at Command Undersea Surveillance in Virginia Beach, Virginia; and at Naval Recruiting Station East Point in Baltimore, Maryland.

Q: What motivated you to join the military, and how did that decision shape your outlook on life?

A: I grew up in St. Michaels, Maryland, and have always loved being on the water. Navy JROTC in high school inspired me to join the Navy for job security, to serve my country, and to work with advanced equipment. My service taught me discipline, resilience, and teamwork, shaping my outlook on life.

Q: How has your military service influenced your career trajectory in the vacation ownership industry?

A: My Navy experience as a sonar technician and sonar supervisor taught me to be attentive, detail-oriented, and proactive. I apply the same approach as a front desk supervisor, ensuring guest satisfaction, addressing needs, and providing informed recommendations to management. I am translating military discipline and leadership directly into excellent customer service.
