ARDA Inside Look - Issue 6

The Timeshare Industry Today
First Word
President/CEO Jason Gamel
The month of August is usually a time for last-minute vacations, school clothes shopping, and for me in particular, the excitement of college football season around the corner! But this year is like no other. Virtual work from home (or as others have said "live from work"), travel disruptions across the country, and an upcoming election cycle for the ages, all make this August look and feel very different. Even though our industry has been quick to adapt and evolve, many fundamentals remain the same. Our members should continue to expect that ARDA will deliver the best value possible through rigorous advocacy efforts and an ongoing commitment to member experience. As we prepare for annual membership renewals on October 1, we have been working harder than ever to protect and connect the industry. Through the recent launch of www.arda.org and www.arda-roc.org, we are able to provide you with the many resources, news and benefits, and access to programs, products, and services available to our members. As your business planning continues into Q4, we appreciate your 2021 membership renewal commitment. As you are aware, your dues provide the necessary funding to maintain our scope of work. Please know that our team remains available to discuss your needs, answer questions or provide support.

Federal and State Legislation
The Government Affairs Team are monitoring a number of bills that have been introduced in special sessions that have convened around the country. The scope of legislation seems to be limited for the most part to items that are directly related to COVID or its effects. This includes things we care about like: cleanliness standards, moratoriums on foreclosures and evictions, and revenue measures. As issues affecting the industry or owners arise we will continue to reach out to the appropriate committees to discuss them. Absent those discussions, we are busy planning our advocacy program for 2021 and will pick back up on regular LPC meetings after Labor Day.
