Q: Can you share about your cultural identity?

A: My family has deep roots in Mexico — Durango on my mom’s side and Michoacán on my dad’s. My grandfather was a musician and entrepreneur, while my grandmother cared for the family. I feel most connected to my culture through food, our expressive language, and music, which has always been part of my family’s story.

Q: What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you, and how has your heritage shaped who you are today?

A: Hispanic Heritage Month is both an honor and a reminder of where I come from. It’s not only about celebrating our community but also about creating space for others to learn about Hispanic culture. I feel proud to see our heritage highlighted and to explore traditions beyond my own. My upbringing taught me resilience, a strong work ethic, and the importance of family values.

Q: What advice (personal or professional) would you give to other Latinx professionals?

A: Value and respect every step of your career journey. I started as a housekeeper, became a coordinator, and now work in Rooms Control. Each step taught me something important. To young Latinx professionals: your work ethic and resilience are your greatest assets. Show up with consistency and pride, and opportunities will follow.

Q: What impact has your heritage had on you and your career journey?

A: My heritage has shaped how I work, connect, and solve problems. Growing up in a culture that values resilience and community gave me a unique perspective and determination to never give up. Being bilingual and understanding two cultures has been a strength in my career, helping me bridge gaps and connect more deeply. My passion and work ethic come directly from my roots.
