Q: Can you share about your cultural identity?
A: I was born in Michoacán, Mexico, where my family worked the land and cared for cattle. At 16, I moved to the United States. Spanish is my first language, and my Catholic faith and family traditions remain at the heart of my life. We celebrate together, stay close, and support each other always.
Q: What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you, and how has your heritage shaped who you are today?
A: Hispanic Heritage Month is a privilege to celebrate and share our culture, history, and achievements. My upbringing taught me resilience, discipline, and respect. Those values shaped me into a leader who listens, supports others, and honors tradition while striving to make a meaningful impact within my community and profession.
Q: What advice — personal or professional — would you give to other Latinx professionals?
A: Success begins with respect, honesty, and responsibility. By staying true to our values, we can achieve personal growth, professional advancement, and the American dream. Our heritage is a strength — it teaches perseverance and leadership while reminding us to uplift others and honor the sacrifices of those who came before us.
Q: What impact has your heritage had on your career journey?
A: My heritage instilled faith, discipline, and an unwavering work ethic. These values empowered me to embrace opportunities in education, leadership, and professional growth. They have shaped me into a reliable leader committed to hard work, respect, and service — qualities that continue to guide my career and community involvement.
